Berlin and Potsdam Tour

5 Days

Day 1:
Arrival
After your arrival in Berlin, your chauffeur will welcome you at the airport or train station gate and take you to your hotel.

Day 2:
City Tour Berlin – part one
Today, your tour guide takes you on your first sightseeing tour through the German capital: Visit Alexanderplatz, Berlin`s most famous square with the World Time Clock and the Fernsehturm (TV tower) Alex, with a height of 368m the city`s highest building offering a tremendous view from its panoramic floor; Berlin Cathedral, former court church of Prussia`s royal family, the Hohenzollern; the medieval quarter Nikolaiviertel; the world heritage Museum Island, uniting five important museum buildings into a harmonic ensemble on the river Spree; Berlin Town Hall, official seat of the mayor which is colloquially known as the “Red Town Hall”; the Gendarmenmarkt, generally regarded as one of the most beautiful squares in Europe; as well as legendary Checkpoint Charlie, the former border crossing point between East and West Berlin.The afternoon is open for your own explorations.

Day 3:
City Tour Berlin – part two
After breakfast, your guide is awaiting you for part two of your sightseeing tour through Berlin. There is so much more to see in this extraordinary city as e.g. the Federal Chancellery Bundeskanzleramt, one of the most impressive pieces of architecture in the new government precinct; the Reichstag, Berlin`s most popular sight and seat of the German federal government; Brandenburg Gate, the symbol of the once divided city; as well as the new center of Berlin, Potsdamer Platz. The afternoon is at your own disposal. How about a visit to Berlin`s green heart, the Tiergarten with the Siegessäule, reflecting the city`s history in a remarkable way; of the Memorial Church Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedaechtniskirche, or to the most popular boulevard Kurfurstendamm. Here you might start on a shopping excursion through the numerous stores along the Kurfurstendamm or conclude this day in any of the near restaurants, clubs or pubs.

Day 4:
Excursion to Potsdam + visit Sanssouci Palace
After a rich breakfast, you will set off for an excursion to nearby Potsdam. Following a short city tour with your local guide through the beautiful town centre of Potsdam, you will visit the most famous sight of the town, Sanssouci Palace. This summer residence “without care” was built by Frederick the Great between 1745 and 1747 and is regarded as the main work of German rococo architecture. Due to its fantatstic gardens, the Palace is often referred to as “Prussian Versailles”. In 12 rooms, visitors can marvel at the original furniture and décor of the 18th century be transported back into the times of Frederick the Great, who preferred this palace and its marvelous gardens to withdraw with his dogs from the rest of the world. (Interior visit not incl.). The afternoon is at your own disposal.

Day 5:
Departure
After a rich breakfast, your chauffeur will bring you to the airport or train station. You will return home with many memorable impressions of the German capital.

In cases of special events or important fairs and conferences, an accommodation in a centrally located hotel might not be possible. The excursion program however is generally not affected by these events.
