2 Days – in the oldest German town
Arrival + City Tour
After your arrival in Trier, your chauffeur will welcome you at the airport or train station gate and transfer you to the hotel. Following the hotel check-in, your tour guide takes you to explore the former imperial and oldest German town, starting with the visit of Porta Nigra, the best preserved Roman city gate north of the Alps. This remarkable building has been declared part of the UNESCO world heritage in 1986. In the following, you will visit Trier Cathedral, the oldest episcopal church in Germany, as well as the so-called Basilica, built at the beginning of the 4th century originally as the throne room of emperor Constantin, which continues to be the largest conserved single-room structure from Roman times. Further sights include the Church of Our Lady (Liebfrauen-Kirche), the Imperial Baths, the Amphitheatre, the Roman bridge, as well as the main market place of Trier. The evening is at your disposal for further discoveries.
After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to take a cruise on the river Mosel and marvel at the beautiful scenery around the town. Later, your chauffeur will transfer you to the airport or train station. You will return home with many lasting impressions of Trier.
